Swimming?? Yes or No??

(Poolside Glam cause mascara just isn’t an option)

Have you heard that you can’t get eyelash extensions wet because they’ll fall off? Yup, we’ve heard that too and all we can say is that the poor person that had his/her extensions fall off after getting them wet didn’t get them done at FCL. Most eyelash extension places in the GTA will tell you to A) avoid getting them wet at all – how would this ever work in real life other than showering with goggles on or B) avoid getting them wet anywhere from 24 to 48 hrs – that’s the old school way of applying lashes. Technology has come a long way since then in respects to “sealing” the extensions, keeping up with it is part of any lash studio’s ongoing education.

So no, you don’t have to shower with goggles on and you don’t have to wait to get them wet. Any water source: poolside (chlorine), salt water, lake water and the shower are totally fine. A simple flick of your finger nail or a comb through with a dry mascara wand will pop those beauties right back into formation. You can dunk your head as much as you like, however we can’t guarantee that your hair will look as good as you lashes will after.

Toronto Gives Good Face…

Flirt Custom Lash Studio Toronto is on Fire! and we are beginning to understand why that is. Other than the obvious, that we give good lash…we’re also giving good price. In Toronto, single strand lash extensions are a pricey little beauty secret. Soooooooo, we decided to bring suburban prices to the big city.

Charging $150 for a full set regardless of how many lashes are applied must seem like a dream in a city where lash studio’s are charging $125 to start with 40 lashes per side. Instead, we lash by time given by the appt….meaning our Lash Fairies take about 1.5 hrs for a full set so we book 2 hours to make sure we put a single silk extension on all natural lashes available.

Relashes or fills are $50 within 3 weeks, it doesn’t matter how many lashes are needed to satisfy your lust for lashes. Relashes are booked for 1 hour, our Lash Fairies take about 45 mins to complete the refill. It really doesn’t matter how many extensions are applied in that time, we get it done.

There ain’t no shame in our lash game…

Silk Extensions vs Mink Extensions

In “lash language” there are 4 types of extensions manufactured for lash studios for purchase to use in their application: Synthetics, Minks, Silks and Fur. Let’s address the easiest to explain first – fur….yup it’s single strand fur usually from a mink or fox. The jury is still out on how these strands are harvested. However, very few lash studios use real fur. They don’t hold the curl, make very little impact for the client and are expensive to purchase. I think this is where the confusion regarding Minks comes from, minks are the most common lash extension advertised. This Mink has nothing to do with the animal, they are in fact synthetic and made from plastic……so synthetic and Minks are one and the same.

(Full Set of Silk Single Strand Extensions)

Moving on, now we have Silk Single Strand extensions and Mink Single Stand Extensions (Silks and Minks). Minks are solid in manufacture, are very dark, they have a high shine and a sharp tip. They are heavy on the natural lash and if overused can cause damage. They’re overall appearance is not natural and while that isn’t isn’t cool with FCL many studios cater to those wanting a heavy look. Silks are the lightest of the offerings, hollow in manufacture, they have no shine and are not as dark as Minks. These are meant for long term use, meaning that because they are so light clients can continue to relash without worry about damage. For that reason alone, FCL only uses Single Strand Silks… getting lashy with it and keeping the hair healthy is the name of our lash game.

Sunday Funday in Burlington!

As far as we’re concerned there just isn’t enough time during the week to do anything fabulous, early to bed and early to grind. Our Burlington shop on Guelph Line is already open until 10 pm weeknights – getting gorgeous while wearing your pajama’s?? Don’t mind if I do!! That leaves Saturdays for general maintenance – hair did, nails did, everything did? Nope not everything, FCL Burlington is open on Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm – making it our mission to make Mondays not so manic. Sleep in, have brunch and head on over in your cozies to get gorgeous without all that “rush rush” business.
